Early morning or late evening flights can be stressful, particularly when arriving or leaving from a new country. That’s why if you’re flying into Iceland it might be worth staying in one of these hotels near Keflavik Airport.

Many flights to Iceland land late at night or depart early in the morning meaning that rather than dealing with finding a way to get to the airport in the middle of the night, it might be worth staying as close as possible to the airport instead as getting from Reykjavik to Keflavik Airport is at least a 45-minute journey.

If you’re thinking about spending the first or last night of your Iceland itinerary near the airport, here are some of the best options that allow you to either stay right next door or close to some of the nearby attractions such as the Blue Lagoon.

Budget Hotels

Ace Guesthouse – An affordable guesthouse located a few miles away from the airport that offers private rooms with either shared or private bathroom facilities. There are some shops nearby to stock up on supplies and free WiFi throughout the property.

iStay Cottages A series of private wooden cottages located about 10 minutes drive from Keflavik, they have budget options with a shared bathroom or pricey cottages with a private bathroom that can sleep up to 4. There are shared kitchen facilities and guests can enjoy free access to the town’s pools.

Start Hostel – One of the few hostels near Keflavik Airport, they offer private rooms in addition to a range of dormitory options and are located about 8km from the airport. The staff here are friendly and helpful and they offer breakfast included in the daily price which is available from 3:30 am so you can enjoy it regardless of when your flight departs.

Mid-Range Hotels

Aurora Hotel– The best-located hotel near Keflavik Airport as it’s only 100 metres from the airport meaning you can maximise your sleep if you have an early morning flight! It is also close to many of the car rental drop-offs so you can return or pick up your car before or after your stay here. They have a range of private rooms available with breakfast included from 5 am every morning.

Hotel Jazz by Keflavik Airport – Located about a ten-minute drive from Keflavik Airport by the sea in the heart of the town of Reykjanesbær. There are some shops and restaurants nearby making this a good option if you want to be close to things to do and not just stuck in your hotel for the night. They offer a range of private rooms that are suitable for solo travellers, couples or families. There is breakfast included daily and a free airport shuttle available 24 hours per day if booked in advance.

Hotel Berg by Keflavik Airport – A boutique hotel which is also located in the town of Reykjanesbær, about 3 kilometres from the airport. They offer a range of private rooms which are predominately suitable for couples. There is an airport shuttle available free of charge and breakfast can be included in the daily rate which starts at 3 am every morning! Guests also have access to a rooftop pool and lounge to relax in.

Park Inn by Radisson Reykjavik Keflavík Airport – One of the few major international chains that have a hotel near Keflavik Airport, they offer a range of luxury private rooms for singles and couples. They are located a 5-minute drive from the airport with a free shuttle service available. There is the option to include breakfast in the nightly rate which is available from 5 am and they can also organise transport to the Blue Lagoon.

Hótel Keflavík by Keflavík Airport  – Another great luxury hotel option that is about is a 5-minute drive from the airport with a free shuttle included. There are room options for couples and families with breakfast included and available from 5 am. Guests have access to a sauna and staff can help make plans for your Iceland trip.

Best Hotels Near Blue Lagoon

For travellers looking for accommodation near Keflavik Airport but don’t want to spend a night away from the major Iceland attractions, there is also the option to stay near the Blue Lagoon.

The Blue Lagoon is located only about a 20-minute drive from Keflavik Airport and staying here will allow you to enjoy the lagoon either early morning or late at night when entrance fees are cheaper. You should book your entrance ticket as much in advance as possible though as the lagoon is incredibly popular and it can be difficult to secure your preferred entrance time.

If you haven’t rented a car in Iceland, it is also possible to organise a direct shuttle from the Blue Lagoon to Keflavik Airport. So you could theoretically, spend the night at a hotel near the Blue Lagoon, have an early morning soak and then head to the airport to catch your flight.

Budget & Mid-Range Hotels

Anita’s Guest House – A basic family-run guesthouse located a few kilometres from the Blue Lagoon. They offer a few different types of private rooms suitable for singles, couples or small families with access to a shared bathroom. Breakfast is included in the daily rate and guests also have access to kitchen facilities and a terrace to enjoy the views!

Hótel Grindavík – A comfortable hotel that offers a range of clean private rooms with private bathrooms that can accommodate larger families. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate.

Northern Light Inn – A family-run hotel located around a kilometre from the Blue Lagoon, they offer a range of mid-range to luxury rooms suitable for couples and families. They have a free shuttle to the Blue Lagoon and can also organise transport to Keflavik Airport and other destinations in Iceland. Breakfast is included in the daily rate and there is also a restaurant on site.

Luxury Hotels

Harbour View Cottages Grindavik – Located just outside the town of Grindavik, this luxury hotel offers a lovely remote setting making it perfect if you’re hoping to see the Northern Lights! While there is no breakfast available here, guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen and there are a few restaurants nearby.

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland – This luxury hotel is the only one that is actually onsite at the Blue Lagoon and with nightly rates in the four figures, it certainly doesn’t come cheap! The highlight of staying here though is undoubtedly the unlimited access guests get to the onsite spa, the Blue Lagoon and various skincare services. Guests can also enjoy daily hikes and yoga sessions and breakfast is included daily.
